After Nevada earlier this year, online poker and online casino have gone live in Delaware last Friday. New Jersey is going to follow Delaware soon, with the first tables set to be launched in the Garden State on November 26.
By legalizing not only online poker but also online casino games, Delaware becomes the first American State to legalize online gambling at a big scale. Nevada has been the first to legalize online gambling, but authorizes only online poker. Three online casinos, Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway have gone live last Friday, offering a range of games including blackjack, slots and poker. They are all using the 888 Holdings platform, the very same WSOP.com is using. The three casinos are sharing their liquidities. The players have to be physically located in Delaware to be able to play. A social security number is required to exclude non-residents players to access the websites.
Poker giant PokerStars has yet to be approved in New Jersey
New Jersey is getting ready for the opening of its online poker regulated market. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has released on November 8 the list of authorized operators so far, which includes Caesars Interactive Entertainment, bwin.party, 888, Ultimate Poker, Betfair and Amaya Gaming. PokerStars is not one of them. If the leader room does not appear in the next list that will be published on November 15 it will not be able to go live on November 26. Nine out of the twelve Atlantic City land-based casinos have been granted authorization to launch online gambling. The only one that is still waiting is Resorts Casino Hotel, which will lean on a partnership with PokerStars. Revel Casino Hotel and Atlantic Club Casino Hotel did not express the will to enter the market.
