888 Holdings has been granted an online license by the Nevada Gaming Commission, becoming the first overseas-based online gambling service provided licensed in Nevada.
The Nevada Gaming Commission also authorized the Gibraltar-based company to operate as a manufacturer and distributor of online gaming equipment, providing 888 with a stepping-stone for Internet gambling opportunities in other states. “First and foremost, we are very proud to be licensed, commented Brian Mattingley, 888’s CEO. We are just absolutely delighted today, and it is a milestone. We would like to believe we will be a major player in the US going forward. 888 considers Nevada to be a trailblazer in online gambling. The company intends to use a data switching facility in the Nevada for Nevada operations initially, and potentially later in other states if those states allow use of the Nevada facility’.
888 has signed an agreement with Caesars Interactive Entertainment for the World Series of Poker brand and with Treasure Island, a Las Vegas Strip casino. The Nevada Gaming Commission has awarded an online poker license to CIE, a subsidiary of Caesars Entertainment last December, while licensing Treasure Island for online poker yesterday. 888 has also established a strategic alliance with WMS Gaming to provide B2B online poker services where state law permits.
